I’ve purchased several cosmetic products on EBay in 12 months. Some were worth the purchase, while others were a complete waste of money. For any person experimenting with new cosmetics products, EBay is a great resource. However, don’t be fooled by so called “deals”. High end makeup brushes are rarely ever sold in sets, and if they are, a set of 18 brushes from Bobbi Brown, MAC, or Shu Uemura will cost you significantly more than $60. If you’re on a tight budget, visit your local craft store. Loew Cornell as an excellent line of paint brushes that work very similarly to a $40 MAC brush.

On a positive note, I did happen to purchase a 88 eyeshadow pallete from a seller in Honk Kong that I found on EBay. The palette has the same colors, pigmentation, and consistency as the Coastal Scents and BH Cosmetics 88 palette. The only difference between the three products are the price and the brand name. The palette I purchased from EBay cost me $12.58 with shipping included, whereas the same palette from Coastal Scents would’ve cost $18 plus the cost of shipping and handling which would have amounted to about $28. The only downside was that the palette took a week and a half to arrive from Hong Kong, but the time seems insignificant when you can save nearly $20.

Helllllo, ladies! Did anyone tell you how important it is to exfoliate your lips regularly. Not only does it help keep your lips smooth and soft, but it also helps your lipstick and lipgloss glide on better. The best time to exfoliate your pout is in the morning after you brush your teeth or just after your shower. The morning is by far the perfect time to exfoliate your lips because it will make your lipstick or lipgloss look better after application. In order to exfoliate your lips simple apply some lip balm or chap stick to your lips and allow to set for 2 or 3 minutes. Afterwards, use a soft bristled toothbrush and brush vigorously. Once finished, reapply your lip balm/chapstick or lipstick. Your lips will look great!

The Skinny on Skin-Care

My first skin-care regimen began with the use of Mary Kay products. When I firts started using her products my skin was extremely oily and prone to have many breakouts. I was sure that I’d need to visit a dermatologist straighten out my skin issues. However, after about 3 months of using her products I started to see a change in the appearance of me skin. I used Mary Kay for about a year until my Mary Kay representative left the business and I could no longer conveniently recieve her products. Then I began using Clinque, pretty good skin care brand but began to recieve some initial breakouts when I switched between skin-care lines but after a few months I feel believe my skin adjusted to the new product and Clinque became my alternative solution to skin-care. I continued to use Clinque through my Freshman year in college when I decided that I would have to settle for drugstore products because I could no longer afford the pice of department store skin-care brands. Since freshman year I’ve used opted to use Neutrogena’s face wash, toner, and moisturizer and have been satisfied with the results. I rarely recieve breakouts and I have a nice even complexion considering I don’t use high-end skin care products.

I’m not attempting the persuade you not to purchase high-end department store skin-care brands. Brands like Shiseido and Shu Uemura have great lines that extremely effective in keeping your skin healthy. However, I believe the secret to any skin-care brand is persistance. If you find something that works well, stick with it, unless of course you can afford to purchase and maintain your purchase of Shiseido, Shu Uemura, or Chanel products. The key to healthy skin is diet, exercise, and consistency. Once you find a system that works for you, stick to it.

Tweeze Your Brows, Ladies!

A person’s eyebrows can really make or break your face. Your eyebrows should ideally enhance the shape of your eye and frame the rest of the face. Whether your a newcomer to eyebrow shaping or a veteran, remember to follow these simple guidelines to eyebrow tweezing:

1. Begin by applying gel or moisturizer to your brows and then brush your brows in an upward motion with a brow brush.

2. Using the diagram above, locations (A), (B), and (C) should be equidistance. The highest point of your brow (arch) should stop at (C). Your brow should begin at location (D) and end at location (E).

3. Using your handy dandy tweezers, begin to tweeze your brows from the outside (E) in (D) Remember to always in the opposite direction of the hair growth and never tweeze the area above the brow.

5. Repeat these same steps on your second eye.

6. Using a pair of eyebrow shears, brush eyebrows up and trim stray hairs.

For a more precise and sophisticate brow look, have your brows waxed or threaded.
